Special Feature… Lang Pioneer Village…

Lang Pioneer Village is now open and ready for another exciting season! I know that the Village’s staff and volunteers are all geared up to make this the best season ever! Judi and I have been fortunate enough to have visited the Village several times. Last year we went to two special events, the Fur Trade Re-enactment and Dine and Shine. Each time we visited, we were treated to new experiences! This year we plan on visiting the Village at least twice. The first visit will be to the Festival of Textiles. This is a new special event to be held in August. This festival is in celebration of the “Samuel Lowry Weavers Shop” project. Plans are underway to build the new Weavers Shop. This building will house the Samuel Lowry Jacquard Loom that was donated to the Village by Mrs. Dini Moes in 1972. Our second visit will be in October to the Lang Pioneer Village’s Applefest. This is one of the Village’s marquee special events and should be a lot of fun!

If you have never been to the Lang Pioneer Village, you have missed a great experience! The peaceful rural setting (between Keene and Peterborough) of the Village makes the “journey back in time” all the more enjoyable! You can visit the Village during their normal seasonal hours of operation or during one of their many special events. The Village is open on a daily basis from May 20 to September 12. You can find out a lot about Lang Pioneer Village and its programs by visiting their website at http://www.langpioneervillage.ca/.
